Soldier, first ever evacuated from a combat position by drone, became a Hero of Ukraine
Konstantin Vlasenko, a soldier of the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade, spent 491 days at a position near Synkivka in the Kharkiv region. For 232 days, he remained there alone, despite a severe injury.

In February, Russian troops destroyed the position defended by Vlasenko. During the retreat, he sustained severe injuries to both legs. Due to gangrene, the soldier lost one foot and was forced to amputate the other himself. Despite this, he continued to monitor enemy actions and transmit information to his comrades-in-arms.
After several unsuccessful evacuation attempts, on October 4, Vlasenko was successfully extracted with the help of a heavy hexacopter "Ayudag-6," specially adapted for human transport.
Now, the 49-year-old soldier is in Lviv, where he will undergo prosthetics and rehabilitation.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree, according to which Konstantin Vlasenko was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine.
