66-year-old priest from Vileyka given three years. He was charged with 'treason against the homeland,' but convicted under a popular article
The trial was closed.

Anatol Parakhnevich, a priest and rector of the Roman Catholic parish in Alkovichy, Vileyka district, has been sentenced to three years in a criminal case.
The verdict was delivered in October, and the trial took place not in Minsk, as previously reported, but in the Vileyka District Court, writes katolik.life.
The sessions were held in a closed regime, so no one was allowed into the courtroom and the specifics of the case remain unknown.
As believers learned, the 66-year-old priest could not be convicted on the initial charge of "treason against the state" (presumably due to lack of evidence), and the article was changed to a milder one.
According to the information received, the priest was accused of "insulting the authorities and extremism" and was sentenced to three years of imprisonment and a large fine.
