«Managed to move the stroller with the child aside»: a Minsk resident recounted an Alabai attack

Minsk resident Yulia recounted in Threads a recent attack on her by a fighting breed dog. According to the girl, everything happened on Monday while walking with her six-month-old child. The Alabai, the author of the post assures, knocked her down and bit her, and also attacked her pet. The victim filed a statement with the police and assures: this incident with the dog was already the third for her family, writes Onliner.by.

Yulia published the post yesterday. At the time of preparing the material, the thread had gathered more than 106 thousand views, with almost 350 comments left.

Journalists contacted the girl and asked her to tell more about what happened. Yulia confirmed: everything happened in the afternoon when she was returning from a walk with her child and dog.

— We walk near Pavlov Park — there's a lowland where we go down, and then we go home through the park itself. That day we were returning from an afternoon walk: my dog was on a leash to my left, and I was pushing the stroller with my right hand. When we approached the church (located on Kosmonavtov Street), I turned my head to the left and saw: a dog was rushing towards us. I moved the stroller aside and stood in front of it.

According to the distressed woman, she tried to take the blow herself and protect the stroller with the child from colliding with the dog.

— The dog flew into me, knocked me down, and bit my right arm. Marks remained, my arm and legs are "blue", — says the woman.

All consequences of the attack, the interlocutor assures, are documented in photos. However, Yulia refused to disseminate the images until an official investigation is conducted.

What about the Alabai owner? According to the victim, the dog had an electronic collar — probably, at some point, the animal reacted to the signal and returned to its owner. Yulia herself, immediately after the incident, rushed to check her child and examine her dog.

— The owner put it on a leash and came towards us. I don't know what he wanted to say, but I warned him: you cannot approach me. Also, two eyewitness girls ran up to us. At that moment, I called the police, but by the time they arrived, the dog owner had left.

A statement has already been filed with the police, and the results of the forensic examination will be ready soon. I was also prescribed rabies vaccination — I had to spend a night in the hospital. Now I'm afraid to walk through the yard — we live in neighboring houses with the Alabai owner. In the comments, people tell me I should walk without a stroller. But what's the difference if the dog attacks?

As the Minsk resident explains, the recent incident was already the third with the same dog. The first occurred in early January of this year, when Yulia, being pregnant, went for a walk with her husband and their pet.

— This dog [Alabai] was with the owner's sister. The animal broke free and, along with its leash, lunged at my dog. The owner fell, and I yelled at my husband to grab the Alabai's leash. Then we tied it to an iron structure on the playground. Once home, we examined our dog: its neck was bitten, and two days later, due to stress, it started urinating involuntarily.

The second incident, Yulia recalls, happened after childbirth and also during a walk with the dog and child.

— We turned onto the path behind the church; my dog was off leash. I see the other one rushing towards us — the owner had his back to us. I left the stroller and ran forward — to scare away this huge dog. Nothing happened because my dog was off leash and could run away or dodge. After the second incident, we had a conversation with the Alabai owner. He promised me he wouldn't let it off leash, but he systematically does it.

Yulia explains that she only contacted the police now. The press service of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk City Executive Committee told Onliner that an investigation is being conducted into this fact.
