The USA has lifted restrictions on the interaction of the Boeing corporation with the Belarusian national airline "Belavia". This was reported to BelTA by the airline's CEO, Igor Cherginets.

Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce issued a permit to Boeing corporation for cooperation with the Belarusian airline.
“This will allow Belavia to directly receive spare parts, components, and software for the aircraft owned by the airline. In addition, it opens up the possibility for negotiations on the acquisition of aircraft directly from the Boeing corporation.”
“I recall that prior to this, the U.S. Department of the Treasury issued a similar permit, which created the technical possibility for direct cooperation between Belavia and the Boeing corporation. A year ago, the U.S. government issued a permit that lifted all political sanctions against Belavia,” said the airline's CEO.
Last week, Valentin Rybakov, Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN, spoke about whether it is possible to open a direct air connection between Belarus and the USA.
Valentin Rybakov also spoke about the possibility of a direct flight from the USA.
He noted that issues such as opening direct flights always take a very long time to resolve. For example, Kazakh airlines have been working on organizing a direct air connection with the USA for eight years.
“To open a direct flight, a whole range of different issues needs to be resolved: these include safety issues, and certification of aircraft, pilots, personnel, airports, and so on. Therefore, we are working. This is one of the issues that we constantly discuss in negotiations with the American side,” the diplomat said.
