Polish Millennium Bank to Accept Alien's Travel Document Instead of Passport from Belarusians
Polish Millennium Bank will recognize the Polish alien's travel document as a client's identity verification document. The bank announced this on the social network X in response to an appeal from the Białorusini DP initiative. This decision was made after numerous appeals from Belarusians who cannot obtain new national passports, writes the Most publication.

The bank explained that they understand the situation of clients who, for reasons beyond their control, cannot renew their passports in their country of origin. Therefore, changes to procedures and banking systems are currently being finalized. No later than December 2026, the alien's travel document issued by Polish authorities will also be accepted for client identity verification.
In addition, the bank extended the deadline for document renewal until January 30, 2027. Previously, clients were informed that this needed to be done by December 12, 2026. Millennium stated that they want to give people enough time to complete all formalities. The bank promises to review each case individually, taking into account the client's circumstances and current legal requirements.
However, Belarusians in the comments noted that another problem remains unresolved — the situation of people who are in the gap between residence permits (karty pobytu). They live and work legally in Poland, but the previous residence permit has already expired, and a decision on the new application has not yet been made.
In October, Belarusians and Russians with accounts at Millennium began receiving messages requiring them to update their documents by December 12, 2026. Otherwise, the bank threatened to restrict operations on accounts and bank cards. Identity verification required a passport and a residence permit or a diplomatic or consular certificate.
After this, many Belarusians began contacting the bank with questions on how to pass verification if they are legally in Poland but do not have a valid national passport or a valid residence permit. In response to the problem, a campaign was organized to send complaints to the bank from people in this situation.
